Maserati presents the short film Compagni di Viaggio, directed by Ferzan Ozpetek

At the Otranto Film Festival, the Italian luxury car brand presents a film about Italy and its beauty, created by the cinematic genius Ferzan Ozpetek.

Modena, 26 September 2024 – Maserati presents the short film Compagni di Viaggio (Companions on a journey) by award-winning director Ferzan Ozpetek; an extraordinary Italian story intertwining family ties and automotive passion. Produced by Indiana Production, the film was premiered in the magnificent setting of the Italian village of Otranto, in the heart of the Puglia region. It opened the 15th OFF – Otranto Film Festival, in collaboration with the Apulia Film Commission, the Puglia Region and the Municipality of Otranto, headed by actress and director Stefania Rocca: “The theme for the festival is Kaos. In Ancient Greece, Kaos predates creation, so even in art Kaos becomes a source of inspiration, an opportunity to break down conventions and experiment with new forms of expression. Let's cause a bit of chaos in Otranto too!”.

Against the backdrop of Italy’s most stunning landscapes, the exclusive Portofino Riviera, the verdant hills of Tuscany, the heart of the cosmopolitan city of Milan and the sun-drenched, magnificent Lecce, the gripping short film tells the story of three siblings. Luca, Giacomo and Mia – played by Andrea Di Luigi, Teodoro De Cristofaro and Chiara Baschetti respectively – travel across the Italian peninsula to reunite with their father, a renowned conductor played by Edoardo Siravo. The three of them bring as a gift an elegant and extraordinary Maserati 3500 GT spyder, a timeless historic icon of the Trident.

The intense narrative shows the unique personalities of a family along an arc of emotions, where each character’s Maserati feature in and intensify every moment: the full-electric Grecale Folgore SUV designed for the painter brother Giacomo, the iconic full-electric grand tourer GranTurismo Folgore for his chef brother Luca and the MC20 Cielo, an extremely sporty car, which finds its perfect contrast in the character of the violinist Elisa. Three spirits that come together and merge into a single existence, one of extraordinary motoring and family heritage.

“With the Trident, I have embarked on a unique journey, a collaboration that goes beyond cinema. Maserati is a company with 110 years of heritage, a symbol of Italian excellence around the world, which for me represents elegance, charm and admiration. From the outset, the cars reminded me of strong, agile, and proud big cats. This film is the essence of Italy: from the stunning design of its cars and the beauty of its nature and cities, to its beloved cuisine and its passion for art and music. My challenge was to ‘humanise’ the Maseratis, attempting to elevate them to something bigger and confirming their position in Italian heritage together with the feelings and emotions that everyone experiences when they think of Italy”, stated the director Ozpetek.

GranTurismo, a Trident icon since 1947, was the first car in Maserati history available in a full-electric Folgore version, with technologies derived from Formula E. It is a perfect example of the Trident's uncompromising philosophy, combining the high performance typical of a sports car, unmistakable Italian style and comfort suitable for long distances.

Grecale Folgore is Maserati's first 100% electric SUV. With the right balance between sportiness and elegance, this top-class SUV in terms of roominess and comfort embodies the concepts of innovation, versatility, luxury and performance.

The MC20 Cielo spyder, equipped with the revolutionary V6 Nettuno engine, is a one of a kind and takes the driving experience to a holistic and immersive level, by offering a perfect balance between sportiness and luxury, courtesy of a specification unique to the segment: the innovative retractable glass roof.

Compagni di Viaggio is an adventure that enchants and celebrates the unique connection between human beings, their cars, feelings, and art in all its forms. Get ready to be carried away by the seductive power of the Trident, brought to life through the extraordinary creative lens of Ferzan Ozpetek.
