Concours d’Elegance is derived from the French, meaning a Competition of Elegance referring to the gathering of prestigious automobiles.
It dates back to 17th Century French aristocracy, who paraded horse-drawn carriages in the parks of Paris during summer weekends and holidays. Over time, carriages became horseless and the gatherings became a competition among automobile owners to be judged on the appearance of their automobiles. Often the competitiveness of a Concours d’Elegance forces restoration of a vehicle to surpass ‘mint’ condition, mint condition would be the state of the vehicle when it originally left the factory.
There are many Concours d’Elegance events held worldwide, the most famous include Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance California, Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Italy, Salon Privé London and Concours d’Elegance Suisse, Geneva and now Concours d'Elegance Sydney.
The event is as much about style, fashion and elegance as it is a celebration of the appreciation and enjoyment of remarkable and exotic automobiles both old and new.
Maserati Australia was once again a major sponsor for the Sydney 2022 Concours d'Elegance showcasing the new MC20, Levante GT and Ghibli Trofeo painted in the Fuoriserie colour Hyper Green.
The event included a collection of pristine rare, classic and vintage automobiles including Maserati Ghibli and Sebring's in an exclusive environment, Sydney's iconic Hyde Park Barracks. Guests were treated to gourmet epicurean delights, entertainment and exclusive showcases from other luxury brands.
